New Lesson Release: Time Management in Financial Planning Firms

AEP has revised its Time Management training lesson with a more practical, advisory-firm-specific approach designed to address the real challenges teams face each day.   Time Management In Financial Planning Firms, shifts the focus toward execution in a modern financial advisory environment.

New additions include:

  • Prioritization frameworks focused on “highest and best use”
  • Expanded discussion on why multitasking reduces productivity and increases errors
  • Practical systems for reducing interruptions and protecting focus time
  • Team communication strategies to improve advisor/CSP alignment
  • Real-world workflow management techniques specifically for advisory firms
Case Study Inclusion

One of the largest improvements is the addition of detailed case studies designed around actual advisory firm roles and challenges.

The updated lesson now includes:

  • A Client Service Professional (CSP) case study focused on managing competing priorities, interruptions, service requests, and operational overwhelm
  • A Financial Advisor case study centered on reclaiming time for client relationships, prospecting, and business development by reducing operational bottlenecks

These scenarios provide practical before-and-after examples that connect the concepts directly to daily firm operations.

Added to Current Courses

The revised course has now replaced the previous Time Management lesson in:

  • FACSC℠ Level II
  • Essential Skills for Managers & Supervisors

It has also been added to:

  • Essential Skills for Financial Advisors

All courses are available in the AEP Learning Center.

Participants who have already completed these programs are not required to retake the course, and all previously earned certificates remain fully valid. However, participants will continue to have access to the updated lesson and new case studies if they would like to revisit the material.

As advisory firms continue facing increasing demands on time, responsiveness, and team coordination, AEP remains committed to developing practical training that improves efficiency, reduces stress, and helps advisors and support teams focus on the work that matters most.
